13 Best Content Marketing Podcasts to Listen to Now

With each passing year, content marketing is evolving and becoming more sophisticated. As a marketer, if you don’t keep up with the latest and hottest trends in content marketing, you may be left behind.

Podcasts are a great way to keep yourself informed about the most popular content marketing trends, tools, and tactics.

One of my favorite things about podcasts is that you can subscribe to them and listen to the episodes on your own time.

But here’s the catch: There are too many podcasts to choose from.

With so many marketing podcasts vying for your attention, you may be wondering which ones devote the most time to content marketing. Which podcasts are worth checking out? Which podcasts provide the most value in terms of deconstructing content marketing ideas?

If you have these questions, you’ve come to the right place.

This list featuring the best content marketing podcasts will help you streamline your content marketing efforts and motivate you to come up with creative ideas to take your business to the next level.

Here are the 13 best content marketing podcasts I’d recommend to seasoned as well as new content marketers.

13 Best Content Marketing Podcasts

1. This Old Marketing

This Old Marketing Podcast - Best Content Marketing Podcasts

Hosts: Joe Pulizzi and Robert Rose

Content Marketing Institute (CMI) is the top online authority when it comes to content marketing. So it makes sense to feature CMI’s podcast, This Old Marketing, at #1 on our list.

Each episode also features rants and raves from Pulizzi and Rose on some of the breaking news stories in the marketing and business world. Thus, one of their recent episodes featured the hosts sharing their views on the intriguing GameStop short squeeze situation.

This Old Marketing is as informative as it’s entertaining. It’s also a great podcast to stay up-to-date with the latest news in the digital marketing space.

Launched in 2013, the show went on a brief hiatus in late 2017 before returning in 2019. Since then, Pulizzi and Rose have worked actively to inform everyone that the podcast is back. It’s because of this commitment to consistency that Ahrefs’ YouTube channel has more views and followers than its competitors.

  • Moz – I was tempted to include Moz in the top 15 marketing YouTube channels, but since Rand Fishkin’s departure, the content is just not the same anymore. That’s not to say they don’t publish informative blog posts and videos every now and then. The company also has one of the best business newsletters for marketers. Rand Fishkin still makes a cameo here and there on the channel, and they are capable of churning out videos that are helpful for advanced SEO users. Click here to subscribe to Moz.

25+ Places You Should Be Sharing Your Content

So you’ve just published a comprehensive new blog post that you’re sure your readers will enjoy. You’ve published it at the right time, designed an eye-catching graphic, optimized the title and other on-page SEO elements, and you can’t wait for your readers to like, share, and comment on your post.

But hold on, the job is only half done. As Darren Rowse from ProBlogger writes, “What you do in the minutes and hours after your post goes live can exponentially increase the effectiveness of the post.”

You need to create awareness about your new post and increase its exposure. As a result, in this article, I’d like to share 25+ places where you need to share your content.

Let’s get started!

25+ Places to Share Your Content

1. Facebook

Facebook Business Page

Let’s get the obvious one out of the way first. Despite dwindling organic reach for posts on Facebook, it’s still worth sharing your content on your personal Facebook page and your business page. Why? Because the social media giant has over 2 billion monthly active users, and the odds of your target audience being there is extremely high.

Facebook’s EdgeRank algorithm determines what content from users and brands to push to the top of the news feed. If your content resonates with your audience and gets them to share, then Facebook will increase your content’s visibility. It’s as simple as that!

As Gary Vaynerchuk writes in his book Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook, “On Facebook, the definition of great content is not the content that makes the most sales, but the content that people most want to share with others.”

2. Twitter

Twitter for Business

Twitter has 238 million monetizable daily active users and it’s yet another obvious place where your content needs to be shared. In fact, Twitter is one of the few platforms where you can benefit greatly by sharing the same content multiple times.

Lots of influencers and brands post the same content multiple times to reach followers in different time zones and to drive consistent traffic back to their site. As a rule of thumb, you should slightly reframe the messaging of your post each time you share it, so you’re not repeating the same message.

You can use any of the popular social media scheduling tools to queue some of the evergreen posts from your blog on Twitter multiple times.

With the increased use of QR codes in the post-Covid-19 era, you can drive more traffic to your website by sharing a personalized QR code with your logo on various social media platforms and using QR codes to distribute your content.

3. LinkedIn

LinkedIn Articles

While LinkedIn is a great place to share links to your latest posts, an untapped opportunity within the platform is the ability to publish articles.

If you have a strong professional network on LinkedIn, then it would make perfect sense to republish or syndicate some of your blog posts and help your content get that extra mileage.

According to Search Engine Journal, Google doesn’t flag your republished posts on LinkedIn as duplicate content. A good SEO practice, however, is to change the post title and make other minor tweaks before you republish your posts on LinkedIn.

4. Medium

Medium Posts

Developed by Even Williams, who previously co-founded Twitter and Blogger, Medium is an online publishing platform where you can share your writing and also browse a variety of content from other writers and publications.

It’s another place where you can syndicate your blog posts and increase exposure for your content. Long-form posts tend to be more popular than regular posts on Medium. So if you publish long-form blog posts on a consistent basis, then you could republish some of these posts on Medium and reach a larger audience.

5. Reddit

Reddit Posts

Reddit is one of the most popular communities on the Internet, with over 330 million active users. It goes without saying that there is an enormous potential to drive traffic to your site from the platform. That said, you need to be an active part of the communities (called subreddits) that you’re joining on Reddit before you can start sharing your content.

In order to share links, you’ll need to accumulate karma. Most subreddits only allow you to post links once you’ve crossed a specific threshold in relation to your karma score. There’s no shortcut to gaining karma on Reddit. You’ll need to be an active part of the subreddit and post insightful comments that generate upvotes.

Even when you’ve accumulated enough karma, you need to be careful while sharing links to your own content. I like to follow the 80:20 rule here, and you should do the same — post links to third party content 80% of the time, and the remaining 20% can be links to your blog posts. But make sure that any link you’re sharing contributes to the discussion you’re currently a part of.

Pro Tip: Here’s a list of the best marketing subreddits you should join.

6. Facebook Groups

Facebook Groups - Anchor FB Group

Facebook groups are communities of individuals who share a common interest. There are two types of Facebook groups that you need to be aware of — public groups and closed groups.

Public groups are by far the most common on Facebook. Unfortunately, these groups also attract individuals who simply want to spam the newsfeed with their content since anyone can join these groups.

Closed groups are Facebook groups where group admins have to manually accept new requests from users who’d like to join the group. Closed groups are ideal for marketers and bloggers who’d like to share their content.

In both these groups, you need to careful while sharing your posts. Make sure the posts are shared in an organic manner and contribute to the discussion that you’re involved in. Shameless plugs will not be tolerated, especially in closed groups.

Just make sure you’re sharing others’ content in addition to your own content. This will build your authority on the platform — helping you gain more followers and traffic for your own posts in return.

8. Steemit

Pro Tip: Don’t just share your content, but also curate content from elsewhere. This will help establish your subject matter expertise in the community.

11. SlideShare

15. LinkedIn Groups

LinkedIn

LinkedIn Groups are hubs for LinkedIn users in the same industry or with similar interests to share content, find answers, post and view jobs, make business contacts, and establish themselves as industry experts.

Make sure you maintain proper etiquette while sharing links to your blog posts and be an active member of the community before sharing your own content.

16. Instagram

Instagram

Instagram is the second most popular social network in the world in terms of active users, behind Facebook. With one billion monthly active users and 500 million people who use Instagram Stories every day, you’ll be missing out if you’re not sharing your content on Instagram.

But there’s a small problem — unlike most other social networks, Instagram doesn’t allow you to post clickable links in the caption of your post. There are two things you can do to overcome this challenge:

  • Post a graphic of your latest blog post and include the full URL in the caption or include the link to your post in the Instagram bio with this message in the caption: “Click link in our bio👆 to read our latest post.”
  • Use an Instagram marketing tool like Shorby that allows you to side-step Instagram’s ‘one link in bio’ limitation by creating a custom link profile with all the important links to your blog posts, videos, messengers, and social networks. To learn more about Shorby and its key features, check out my Shorby review and video walkthrough.

17. Email

Mailchimp

Email may sound a bit old school, but it’s still an effective channel to promote your new content. According to Constant Contact, 72 percent of consumers prefer email as their source of business communication.

You can share your new content via email alerts or in the form of a weekly newsletter, comprising of all the latest content you published that week.

If you’re taking your first steps in email marketing, explore these recommended email marketing tools to refine your approach and effectively connect with your subscribers from the outset.

18. YouTube

Sandeep Mallya YouTube Channel

YouTube is not just a video-sharing platform, it’s also a search engine. With 3 billion searches per month, YouTube’s search volume is larger than that of Bing, Yahoo, and DuckDuckGo combined.

Regardless of your niche, if you’re not having a channel on YouTube, you’re missing out on a key portion of your demographic.

You can start a channel today and repurpose some of the best-performing articles on your blog and turn them into engaging videos.

19. Snapchat

Snapchat

With over 350 million daily active users, Snapchat is a great place to share what Gary Vaynerchuk calls “micro-content” — snippets of content created from each new piece of content that drives awareness back to the original long-form content.

Gary Vee is the master of micro-content on Snapchat and Instagram, and if you’re looking for ideas on content creation on Snapchat, just follow him on Snapchat.

20. Pinterest

Pinterest

Since its launch in March 2010, Pinterest has slowly garnered a highly engaged audience. As of March 2019, Pinterest has 291 million monthly active users and the users can browse through more than 175 billion pins on the platform.

The secret to driving traffic from Pinterest is creating descriptive images. Visuals with clear, concise messaging are more impactful on the platform than run-of-the-mill graphics. As such, you really need to get creative with the images to grab your audience’s attention and the text overlay on the images should contain just enough information to prompt users to visit your website or blog.

Infographics are also highly popular on Pinterest. You can convert your latest blog post into an infographic and share it on Pinterest to drive a ton of traffic back to your website.

For more tips on how to create and share content on Pinterest, check out this article by Social Media Examiner.

21. Tumblr

Tumblr

Tumblr may not be as big or as appealing as it once was, but it still rakes in close to 370 million visits a month. So it’s worth sharing your blog posts here.

That said, just posting links to your latest articles on Tumblr will not fetch you much engagement. You need to repurpose your blog posts into infographics or videos and then share them on the platform. This way your content will resonate more with Tumblr users and you’ll be rewarded with engagement and traffic.

22. Google Business Profile (GBP) Posts

Google My Business Posts

If you have a Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business) account for your business, you can promote your latest article via GBP Posts.

Just login to your GBP account and navigate to Posts > Add Update and write your post. Include an image and link to your latest article.

Now when a user searches for your business on Google, they will not just see information about your business, but they’ll also be able to view your latest post, driving additional traffic to your site.

23. Instapaper

Instapaper

Instapaper is a bookmarking service that allows you to save articles, videos, and podcast episodes for later consumption across all your devices, including iPhone, Android, and iPad.

Instapaper has over 2 million users and it’d be a good idea to share all your latest blog posts here.

24. Podcast

Anchor Podcasts

If you already have a podcast, you can repurpose your latest posts into new podcast episodes.

But if you don’t have one, you should know it’s now easier than ever to start your own podcast. You can use a free app like Spotify for Podcasters (available on iOS, Android, and desktop web) to start your podcast within a few minutes.

Spotify lets you record, host, and distribute your podcast on all the major podcast-playing platforms (Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Breaker, etc.) at no extra cost.

25. Pocket

Sharing your content on Pocket will help you reach an audience of over 20 million registered users.

26. Vimeo

Vimeo

Vimeo attracts more than 100 million unique visitors per month. If you publish videos on YouTube, you could replicate the same on Vimeo and reach out to a whole new audience.

27. Quora

Quora Blog Post

You can republish some of your blog posts on Quora by creating your very own Quora blog.

In addition to this, you can also start answering relevant questions on Quora and include a link to your latest blog post that contains more information on the topic.

Search Intent and SEO: The Ultimate Guide

If you’d like to rank higher on Google, you need to create content that matches search intent.

But what exactly is search intent? Why is it so important for SEO? And how can an understanding of search intent help you rank higher in search engine result pages (SERPs)?

These are the questions we’ll attempt to answer in this article.

In this guide, we’ll cover:

  • What is Search Intent?
  • Why is Search Intent Important?
  • The Four Types of Search Intent
  • How to Optimize Your Pages for Search Intent

Let’s get started.

What is Search Intent?

Search intent (also called user intent) is the goal behind every search query. It’s the reason why the user is typing a search query on Google.

For example, when someone gives a search on “best smartphones under $500,” Google understands that the intent of the searcher is to learn more about the best smartphones within their specific budget. They are not looking for eCommerce category pages or product landing pages. They are looking for blog posts.

Which is why the results on page 1 for this query are dominated by list posts featuring the best smartphones within the specified budget.

Search Intent - Google SERPs

On the other hand, when someone searches for “buy oneplus 7 pro,” Google understands that the intent here is to buy. The specific user has already made up his/her mind to go with OnePlus 7 Pro.

For that reason, the search results on page 1 for this query are eCommerce category pages or product pages where the user can make a purchase.

Search Intent - Transactional Query

Why is Search Intent Important?

Google’s primary goal is to satisfy search intent. In other words, Google wants to provide the most relevant results to a particular search query.

Google SERPs - Page 1 Search Intent

Google’s most recent edition of Search Quality Rater Guidelines dedicates quite a few pages to search intent. In fact, the phrase “user intent” is used 333 times in the document.

User Intent - Google Guidelines

So, if you want your pages to rank higher in Google search results, you need to make sure that your content aligns with search intent.

The Four Types of Search Intent

There are four common types of search intent:

  1. Informational
  2. Commercial
  3. Transactional
  4. Navigational

Let’s explore each type of search intent in detail.

Informational Search Intent

In this scenario, the user is searching for information. Google refers to informational search queries as “Know” queries. The information that the user is seeking may be an answer to a simple question like “what’s the time in Bangalore?” or it could be information on a complex topic like “Stoic philosophy.”

Google further classifies searches that require a very specific answer as “Know Simple” queries. Search queries such as “roger federer age” and “microsoft stock price” demand an accurate and straightforward answer that can be displayed in a relatively small amount of space.

Google SERPs - Roger Federer Age

On the other hand, the “Know” query answers are more in-depth. For instance, a search query like “should I invest in microsoft stock” requires a more elaborate answer.

Google SERPs - Microsoft Stock

Here are some examples of informational search queries:

  • “bitcoin price”
  • “how to play Fortnite”
  • “how to make pasta”
  • “content marketing”
  • “Al Pacino”
  • “how to meditate”

Commercial Search Intent

In this case, the user is interested in buying a product or a service but has not made up their mind yet. They are still undecided. They are most likely looking for a list of best products in a specific category or reviews and comparisons.

Commercial Intent Example

Examples of commercial search queries include:

  • “Semrush vs Ahrefs”
  • “iPhone 14 review”
  • “best headphones 2023”
  • “ConvertKit review”
  • “best PS5 games”

Transactional Search Intent

In this scenario, the user is looking to make a purchase. They have made up their mind to go for a specific product or service. As such, the page 1 results on Google are eCommerce category pages or product pages where the user can make the purchase.

Transactional Intent Example

Below are some examples of search queries with transactional intent:

  • “buy iPhone 11 pro”
  • “Mailchimp price”
  • “order food online”
  • “buy macbook air 2023”

Navigational Search Intent

In this case, the searcher is looking for a specific website or webpage. Google refers to these queries as “Website” queries. The users already know where they’d like to go.

For instance, users searching for “tesla contact” would like to visit the contact page of Tesla.

Navigational Search Intent Example

Examples of navigational queries include:

  • “LinkedIn”
  • “Semrush login”
  • “technical SEO checklist 99signals”
  • “washington post”

To summarize, here’s a quick reference guide to the four types of search intent:

4 Types of Search Intent by 99signals

How to Optimize Your Pages for Search Intent

Understanding the search intent behind your target keyword terms is one of the preliminary things you should do before you start creating content.

Once you’ve determined the right search intent for your target keywords, here are 5 things you can do to optimize your content for search intent:

1. Analyze the search results for your target keywords

Perhaps the most important step in optimizing your content for search intent involves analyzing the top-ranking pages for your target keywords. Put differently, you need to deep dive into the SERPs to find out what pages are currently ranking for the topic you’re working on.

You can do this by simply performing a Google search for the target keywords to see what results emerge. Just by looking at the top search results, you’ll most likely understand the search intent. In most cases, they will fall under one of the four types of search intent.

In some cases, you’ll be able to identify the search intent for your target keywords(s) by looking at Google SERP features — a non-traditional organic result in Google search result pages. For instance, this “News Box” that appears on Google for “bitcoin” is a SERP feature.

Google SERP Features - News Stories

The four most common SERP features are:

  • Rich Snippets (Reviews, Events, Recipes, etc.)
  • Paid Results (Google Ads, Google Shopping, etc.)
  • Universal Results (Featured Snippets, Videos, etc.)
  • Knowledge Graph (Weather, Population, Stock Price, etc.)

Google SERP features are heavily influenced by search intent. For example, searches with transactional intent are typically accompanied by shopping results.

Google Shopping Results

On the other hand, rich snippets and featured snippets mostly show up for searches with informational intent.

Pasta Recipes - Rich Snippets

In most cases, you’ll be able to infer search intent of your target keywords by performing a search on Google and scanning through the top-ranking pages. However, Google rankings fluctuate over a period of time. In such instances, I highly recommend you use a tool like Semrush or Ahrefs to check the ranking history of your target keywords.

On Semrush, you can find the top 10 search results for your target keywords by viewing the SERP Analysis data in the Keyword Overview report.

To get this data, enter your target keywords in the Semrush search box and navigate to Keyword Overview —> SERP Analysis

Here you can view the top 10 results for your seed keywords.

SERP Analysis Report - SEMrush

Now, you can view the top 10 search results for your target keyword terms for any past date with Semrush‘s historical data analysis. Historical data within the Semrush Keyword Analytics toolkit enables you to perform research on keywords on a month-to-month basis dating back to January 2012.

To access historical data, you need to click on the date selector at the top of the Keyword Overview report. From the dropdown menu, select the month and year for which you’d like to see the top 10 search results.

Keyword Overview Report - Historical Data

Scroll down to SERP Analysis to find the top 10 search results for your keywords on that particular date and take note of any fluctuations in rankings.

Historical Data - SEMrush Report

If you notice drastic changes in the top 10 results for your target keywords over a period of time, that means the dominant search intent for the keywords is in a state of flux. In such instances, it’s better to pick different target keyword terms for your content.

Note: In order to access historical data, you’ll need Semrush’s Guru level plan or higher. Click on the link below to get 1-month free access to SEMrush‘s Guru plan.

2. Choose the right content type

Once you’ve zeroed in on your target keywords, the next key step is to decide on the content type.

The four content types that dominate SERPs are as follows:

  • Blog posts
  • eCommerce Category pages
  • Product pages
  • Landing pages

Your target keyword terms will fall under one of these four content types. For example, the top search results for “how to practice mindfulness meditation” are mostly blog posts.

Top 10 SERPs - SEMrush Data

On the other hand, the top search results for “buy oneplus 7t” are all eCommerce category pages or product pages.

Top 10 SERPs - eCommerce Pages

Once you’ve identified the content type that’s most likely to rank for your target keywords, it’s time to get started with your content and make sure it aligns with the search intent of the keywords.

3. Update and relaunch existing content

Content relaunch is a highly underrated SEO technique that’s proven invaluable to me ever since I started this blog.

Case in point: I was able to increase organic traffic to an old blog post by 146% simply by updating and relaunching it.

SEO Case Study by 99signals

Content relaunch is a 5-step process which works as follows:

  • Identify the post that needs an update
  • Upgrade your content with new information
  • Optimize your target keywords
  • Add new visuals
  • Relaunch the post

When it comes to optimizing pages for search intent, you need to find posts where your content and the search intent behind the target keywords don’t match.

You can dig into your archives to see if there are instances where you optimized a page for the wrong search intent. Perhaps there’s a blog post which was wrongly optimized for keywords with transactional intent, when it should have been optimized for commercial intent.

Revisit such posts and update them by aligning your content with the search intent.

4. Improve the user experience on your website

Google wants users to find the right answers to their queries and have a great experience while doing so. As such, it’s important that you improve the user experience on your website to make sure you start ranking higher for your target keywords.

Several factors contribute to bad user experience on your website. Poor site structure, too many broken links, and a slow loading website are just a few factors that can quickly alienate users.

Here are a few things you can do to improve your website’s user experience:

Optimize your page speed

Page speed is perhaps the most critical aspect of providing a good user experience to your visitors. As such, Google considers page speed as one of its top ranking factors.

Use free tools such as GTMetrix and PageSpeed Insights to constantly monitor your site’s page speed and take action to fix any speed-related issues that come up.

Image compression is one of the easiest ways you can speed up your website. Use TinyPNG to compress the images before you upload them to your site.

Compressed JPEG

To further improve your site speed, minify JavaScript and CSS resources, and implement browser cashing. If you have the budget, invest in a caching plugin like WP Rocket to speed up your WordPress site.

Add visuals

Images, screenshots, and videos provide a much-needed visual break from the text for your visitors. So use them strategically within your content to elaborate on some of your points and increase engagement.

Add Visuals - Search Intent

You can design your own graphics using DIY tools such as Canva and Venngage. If you have a bigger budget, you can sign up for Design Pickle and get a professional designer assigned to your account for all your design needs. Pricing plans at Design Pickle start from $399/mo.

Use whitespace

Getting the undivided attention of website visitors is easier said than done. Nowadays, users tend to skim posts rather read them entirely. This is where whitespace (empty space between different elements on your site) can be so useful.

Effective use of whitespace in your layout can provide that much-needed breathing space to your visitors and make it easier for them to absorb your content.

Add Table of Contents

If you publish long-form posts on your blog, you can improve the reading experience of your visitors simply by adding a table of contents to your posts. This will allow them to navigate to sections they’re interested in.

Table of Contents - Search Intent

If you use WordPress, you can download and install the free Table of Contents Plus plugin to insert table of contents in your posts.

5. Get constant feedback from your community

Getting honest feedback for your content from your community allows you to learn whether their questions and problems are being answered. If your post is the go-to resource for your target audience for that specific topic, then you’re probably doing a great job aligning your content with the search intent of your target keywords.

On the other hand, if your readers highlight certain areas where they need more information, then you can take this new information into account and upgrade your content so that it completely addresses all the questions your readers have regarding the topic.

If you don’t already have an active community for your brand on social media, there’s an easy fix: have an active comments section on your blog. Encourage people to comment on your posts and always make it a point to respond to as many comments as possible.

Always end a blog post by prompting your readers to leave a comment or ask questions in the comments section.

Encourage Comments

When you encourage conversations on your blog, you may stumble upon an idea that completely skipped your mind while writing the post.

Final Thoughts

If you’d like to consistently rank higher in Google SERPs, you need to make sure your content matches the search intent of your target keywords. It’s a ranking factor that’s often overlooked, but it’s extremely important.

As explained in this post, satisfying search intent of its users is Google’s primary goal. If your content fails to do that, you’ll see your search rankings drop and organic traffic decline.

There are generally four types of search intent: informational (looking for information), navigational (looking for a specific website), transactional (looking to make a purchase), and commercial (comparing products or services before making a purchase).

4. What are the 3 C’s of search intent?

The 3 C’s of search intent are:

  • Content Type: The format of content (e.g., blog post, video, product page) that best matches the user’s search query.
  • Content Format: The structure of the content (e.g., how-to guide, listicle, comparison) expected by the user.
  • Content Angle: The unique perspective or value your content offers, addressing specific user needs or questions.

5. What are the benefits of search intent?

Understanding and aligning with search intent leads to improved search rankings, increased engagement, and higher conversion rates. It enhances user experience by providing relevant content, focuses your content creation efforts more effectively, and offers a competitive advantage by setting your content apart in a crowded niche.

6. What is search intent modeling?

Search intent modeling is the process of analyzing and categorizing the purposes behind user search queries to better understand what users are seeking. It involves identifying patterns in search behavior and classifying them into intent categories, such as informational, navigational, transactional, or commercial investigation.

This modeling helps in creating content and SEO strategies that closely match the specific needs and expectations of users, improving search relevance and user experience.

7. What is local search intent?

Local search intent refers to search queries specifically aimed at finding information, products, or services within a geographical area. Users with local search intent are typically looking for nearby businesses, local services, directions, or local events.

Optimizing for local search intent involves targeting local keywords, creating location-specific content, and ensuring business listings are accurate and comprehensive to meet the needs of users seeking local information.

10 Ways You Can Repurpose Your Video Content

Video content is a valuable asset in today’s digital world. It allows you to pack a solid amount of information into an engaging click. Audiences also get all the information they need within a short period of time. This makes video the go-to content type for most people.

People find video content interesting, engaging, and relatable. However, creating videos takes time, resources, and effort. Most business owners may not have a lot of these to spare. That is where repurposing video content comes in handy.

Repurposing video content means taking a single video, reworking it, and posting it to multiple channels and social media platforms. An example of repurposing is when you take a long video you posted on YouTube and create multiple short clips from it to post on Facebook and other social media channels.

There are many ways you can repurpose video content. In this article, we take you through 10 clever ways you can repurpose your pre-existing videos for maximum reach. But first:

Why Should You Repurpose Your Video Content?

The number one benefit of repurposing videos is that it saves you time. Around 38% of marketers say that pre-production – ideation, scripting, and casting – is the most time-consuming part of video creation. Instead of having to make a new video for each social media platform, you can repurpose your videos and have multiple clips to share online.

Secondly, when you repurpose video content, you breathe new life into it. No need to leave your videos sitting on the shelf or in the archives of just one social platform. When you take them out and rework them, you give them a renewed purpose.

Repurposing allows your videos to reach more people and capture the attention of your target audience. Around 36% of marketers say their primary goal for video marketing is to reach new audiences and increase brand awareness.

Additionally, your new followers get to see those high-performing videos that you posted before they discovered your brand.

Finally and most importantly, repurposing saves you money. Reformatting and reusing your videos go a long way in helping you optimize your budget and marketing spend.

You don’t have to spend as much time and money on video creation, from conceptualizing to recording and editing. This results in more effective and efficient video marketing campaigns for your business.

10 Ways to Repurpose Videos

Video is currently the superstar of the marketing and content industry. Going by the raving success of TikTok, we can safely say that video content is here for the long haul. Social media platforms are changing their algorithms to favor video content compared to other content types.

Around 54% of marketers say that video is the most valuable type of content for meeting their business’ social goals. Repurposing videos can, therefore, help you achieve your business goals more effectively. Let’s get right into the tips you can apply to successfully repurpose video content.

1. Create Pinterest Pins

You can now repurpose video content onto Pinterest using video pins. Yes, you heard that right. Since 2020, Pinterest has been giving its users the option to create video pins. You can post videos that are between four seconds and 15 minutes long, provided they’re not heavier than 2GB.

You can also add a captivating cover image to grab your audience’s attention. Uploading a video will look something like this:

Pinterest Post Example

Source: Tailwind

You should be an advertiser or have a business account on Pinterest to be able to use video pins. If you’re using a personal account, make use of Idea Pins instead. These are similar to Instagram Stories and function pretty much the same way.

You can repurpose video content by adding Pinterest-optimized images to your board and using them to link to your videos.

Pinning repurposed videos to Pinterest will boost your website’s referral traffic. How? Well, linking the pinned videos to your Pinterest board helps drive traffic to your website. Remember to use the relevant hashtags in the pin description section for higher visibility.

You could also have different boards for the different niche topics you tackle as a business. Pinterest is a valuable platform to share your content. Creative use of video content will give your brand a competitive edge on the platform.

2. Convert YouTube Videos into Blog Posts

So you’ve just finished creating a compelling, information-rich video. All that time and effort must reach a wider audience than only those who are subscribed to your channel. One way to effectively reach new audiences is to turn that video into an equally compelling blog post.

Don’t worry. You don’t have to write the whole thing word for word. Simply take the key points and elaborate a bit on them in writing. If you don’t have time to do this, you can use tools like Rev, or Google Docs to transcribe your YouTube videos and turn them into blog posts.

Make sure to carefully review the draft blog and embed the original video onto the final post for maximum reach. Remember to optimize the content using relevant keywords, headings, and subheadings to dramatically boost your SEO rankings.

You may consider turning your live videos into blogs, too. For instance, Wave.video made their live interview video into a blog, as shown above. Notice that they also embedded the original video in the blog post.

Whichever method you choose, turning your videos into blog posts makes them evergreen and useful to audiences over time.

3. Transform Video Content into Instagram Reels

Short-form video is popular because people can connect with a brand without having to invest too much time. Instagram Reels are short, engaging videos recorded in a vertical orientation with an aspect ratio of 9:16. They are a great way to repurpose video content.

Take your original video and make short, compelling clips from your main talking points.

Since Reels have a vertical orientation, use video converting tools like Veed and BeeCut to turn your horizontal videos that way. Remember to add some text overlays and background music from the music library for maximum engagement.

Instagram Repurposing

People enjoy engaging, fun, light-hearted, and educational Reels like the one above. With the working of the Instagram algorithm, this type of content is likely to gain good visibility. Repurposing your videos into Reels will also help portray your brand as engaging, interesting, fun, and approachable.

4. Make a Webinar out of Videos

When you have a video packed with insights from a niche subject, you can take that video and turn it into a webinar. Your target audience may have missed the initial video. Therefore, marketing it fresh as a webinar will build audience interest and increase the video’s reach.

The video may need a bit of reworking to fit into the current market. Do some research and note down a few current statistics and other valuable information to include in the webinar. You can also add current examples to add more relevance to the lesson.

Adding this new information allows you to retarget your followers who watched the video earlier. Internet users want to derive value from every video they watch. If they are going to invest their time into your brand, give them valuable information in exchange.

You can use some of the best webinar platforms to host your webinar for optimal performance.

5. Create Gripping Teasers

Teasers are similar to movie trailers. They are shorter videos that help build the audience’s anticipation ahead of the launch or the big reveal. Repurpose video content into short, 15-30 second clips that give the audience a glimpse into what’s coming soon.

Cut down a long piece of content into shorter clips that you can use as teasers. Teasers are mostly used as sneak peeks of the full video. They incentivize the audience to head to your social channels or your website for the entire video.

For instance, if you have a product-launch video, make a short teaser to build anticipation and draw people to watch the full video. Sports brands are well known for using teasers for this purpose, as shown below.

Teasers Repurposing

Leicester Tigers used the trailer above to pique their audience’s curiosity about their new uniform.

Another way to create short video clips is to speed up videos. If you have an explainer video demonstrating a long process like a guided tour, speeding it up adds a trailer effect to it. It will help glue your audience to your video. They might even want to see the original content.

6. Make Testimonial Ads

Customer loyalty is a big deal in the market. Today, customers buy from brands they trust. One of the ways to get customers to trust you is through customer testimonials. Buyers delight to see another buyer using a product and loving it. That explains why use of influencer marketing is skyrocketing by the day.

You can take video testimonials from your customers and repurpose them into video ads. With a bit of reworking, the video can be a top-performing ad. Consider adding text to the video stating what the customer is watching. See BlueTarp’s testimonial video ad below:

Testimonial Ads Example

Video testimonials are great for retargeting campaigns. It reminds previous customers why your products are so great and the results they can enjoy from using them. This gets the prospects to consider purchasing from your business. Make sure to get the customer’s approval before repurposing their video into a testimonial ad.

7. Include Social Media Videos in Website

Your social media videos can make for great content on your website. You can repurpose video content that you used on social networks by uploading them to your landing page, gallery, about page, testimonial section, or other relevant pages on your site.

There are three ways to do this. You can either upload a video straight to your site, link to a video or embed a social media video on your website.

The drawback of linking to a video is that the visitor will be redirected away from your site to the video streaming site, like YouTube, for instance.

Uploading videos directly to your site, meanwhile, may slow down the site loading speed.

Therefore, embedding is the best option in most cases. It allows users to stay longer on your site as they watch the videos. You can also ensure good site loading speed for a great user experience.

Coke social media posts

Embedding, as shown above, allows you to bypass your server’s bandwidth limitations. You can also maintain the quality of the original video without having it downsized to fit the site’s limitations. Videos get people to stay longer on your site.

Repurpose your social media videos for maximum reach and to boost site ranking on SERPs.

8. Create Digital and Printable Guides

You can turn your educational videos into digital or printable guides that your audience can download from your site in exchange for their email addresses. This is a great way to grow your email list while providing valuable resources to your audience. Simply take screenshots of the steps in your video and turn them into a printable or digital guide.

Printables are images, text, infographics, or other designs that appear in the form of digital downloads. Common kinds of printables are calendars, stickers, quotes, and art prints. They are inexpensive and can sometimes be free to download from the internet.

Digital guides, meanwhile, are also called customer support guides. They are documents uploaded to your website that allow customers to learn how to use your products or services.

Since people prefer to consume content in different ways, it is best to provide them with information in as many formats as possible. Creating digital and printable guides captures the attention of people who prefer to read rather than watch a video.

9. Design Interactive Shoppable Videos

Design interactive shoppable videos are videos that showcase products available for purchase with embedded links in the video. When a viewer sees what they like and clicks on a portion of the video, they are redirected to where they can buy the product. All this happens without them having to leave the video page.

These videos are interactive and lead-generating, allowing the customer to use less effort to get what they need to buy. You can re-edit your videos and embed links to them and turn them into shoppable videos.

Shoppable videos can help you since they allow you to strike while the iron is still hot. You offer the buyer an opportunity to purchase while their buyer intent is high. With a few clicks, they can quickly purchase an item.

Here’s an example from IKEA:

IKEA example repurposing

Source: Wirewax

IKEA has embedded the “+” in the video above for buyers to pause the experience, get more details about a product, and potentially buy it.

Platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Amazon Live, and Popshop Live allow you to embed shopping links and create shoppable videos. Recently, YouTube introduced new features, including a slot for shoppable videos. Make use of these platforms to repurpose your videos and see which works best for your business.

Shoppable videos are mainly used by e-commerce businesses to sell their products. However, that should not stop other business owners from tapping into this great resource.

10. Make Video-Rich Snippets for Google Search

It is beneficial to make your videos appear as video snippets on Google search, especially if these videos are on your website. Video-rich snippets appear on the SERPs with a tiny video alongside the search results. Sites that appear this way are more likely to get clicked. Studies have shown, after all, that 62% of people pay attention to video while only 38% skim it.

Hosting your content on a platform that automatically generates snippets for your videos – like YouTube or Wave – is the easiest way to make video-rich snippets. Adding a schema markup to your videos is another way. Video-rich snippets have a URL, title, description, upload details, and video duration. They also have a thumbnail, as shown below:

Video rich snippets

Source: Google SERPs

These videos do not only appear on Google’s SERPs and Videos Search, but also in Google Discover and even in Google Images. They give the searcher a sneak peek of the video. It is a brilliant way to increase the click-through rate and video content reach.

In Closing

One of the best ways to breathe new life into your old videos is to repurpose them. You save time, resources, and effort that go into creating a brand new video whenever you repurpose video content.

You can rework your videos for use on Pinterest. Your YouTube videos can be used to make engaging blog posts. Create short clips and edit the clips into a vertical orientation for use on Instagram Reels. Make gripping teasers to build anticipation for your product videos. You can also use testimonials from customers to create video ads.

Update your site using your pre-existing social media videos. You can also get discovered by using video-rich snippets. Finally, build your email list by turning videos into printable or digital guides.

Over to you. Go out and repurpose your videos for the best results.

How to Use Castmagic

Before you start uploading your podcast episodes on Castmagic, it’s important to tweak the settings to ensure you have the right configuration for your podcast.

To get started, login to the Castmagic dashboard and navigate to “Settings” from the left-side menu bar.

In “Space Settings,” enter the details about your podcast — podcast name, language, and magic words.

Castmagic Space Settings

Magic words are terms or phrases that frequently appear in your podcast. These could be names of people, places, or brands that are not easily picked by the AI from your audio.

Entering a list of magic words will help Castmagic’s AI to identify them in the audio. But don’t bother too much with this setting at the start as you can change these magic words for each podcast episode you upload on Castmagic.

Next, select “Speakers” from the left-side menu and click on “New Speaker” to add details about the host of your podcast. If your podcast has multiple hosts, you can add details about each of them in this section.

Castmagic Speaker Settings

Once your podcast is setup, you can start uploading audio files on Castmagic and let AI do its magic on your episodes.

From the dashboard, select “Episodes” from the left-side menu and click on “Upload files.”

Here you can upload an audio file of the podcast episode. Castmagic supports all the major file formats like mp3, mp4, m4v, and wav.

Castmagic - Upload files

Alternatively, if you host your podcast on YouTube, you can simply enter the URL of the video to instantly import the audio file.

Once your audio file is imported, Castmagic’s AI will automatically generate important post production elements like show notes, transcript, timestamps, quotes & hooks, social media snippets, key topics, summary, and more.

Let’s examine all the key features or content outputs of Castmagic in the next section.

Castmagic Review: Key Features

Transcript

Castmagic’s transcript feature uses artificial intelligence to transcribe your podcast audio into text. This AI-driven technology leverages deep learning models and natural language processing techniques to achieve accurate and efficient transcription.

When you upload your podcast audio file to Castmagic, the AI system analyzes the audio and applies sophisticated algorithms to recognize and convert the spoken words into written text.

Castmagic AI Transcript

Castmagic’s AI system also employs speaker diarization techniques to distinguish between speakers and assign labels to them in the transcript.

After the transcript is generated, you have the option to review and edit the content as needed.

While the AI system aims to produce a near-accurate transcript, it is recommended to proofread the output to ensure its correctness and quality.

Show Notes

Show notes are a detailed summary of a podcast episode that typically includes key points, quotes, and other relevant links or resources.

Show notes are a great way to provide additional information about your podcast episodes, and they can be beneficial for both listeners and podcasters.

For listeners, show notes offer a  brief overview of the episode, so listeners can decide if they want to listen to the whole thing.

For podcasters, show notes can bolster your SEO, making it more likely that your episodes will be found by people searching for relevant keywords.

Castmagic uses AI-powered technology to extract the most important parts of a podcast episode and create a summary of the content. This summary is then formatted into show notes that can be easily shared with listeners.

To access your show notes, head over to the “AI Content” tab to browse different sections of content you can include in your episode show notes. You can include content outputs like introduction, speaker bio (if you had a guest on your show), and incorporate some of the keywords generated by Castmagic’s AI in your show notes.

Castmagic AI Content - Show Notes

You can also include timestamps, key topics and bullets, hooks and quotes, and other content outputs in your show notes, which we will explain in detail next.

Timestamped Overview

Timestamps are important because they allow listeners to easily navigate to specific parts of a podcast episode. They are like navigation buttons on a remote control, giving you the power to effortlessly fast-forward, rewind, or pause the podcast episode at precisely the moments that pique your curiosity.

Furthermore, timestamps are useful for referencing specific moments of a podcast when discussing it with others.

With Castmagic AI, you can fetch a detailed overview with timestamps for each episode you upload on the platform.

Castmagic - Timestamped Overview

It generates a long-form and a short-form variation of the timestamps and you can choose the best version depending on your needs. You can also regenerate the timestamps if you’re not happy with the initial results.

Among the countless SaaS tools I’ve tried and tested over the years, there are only a handful of them that offer exceptional customer support. Luckily, Castmagic is one of them.

Castmagic mainly offers support via chat. You can just click on the chat icon on the right-bottom of your screen and enter your query. You can expect a response in just a few minutes.

Besides, you can also schedule a demo with the Castmagic team to learn all the nitty-gritties of the platform.

The Ultimate Marketing Toolkit: 6 Essential Tools for Marketing Agencies

With a tsunami of marketing tools flooding the internet, all of which are vying for your attention, it’s easy to get overwhelmed with the huge number of choices available to marketing agencies.

That is why I wanted to put together this guide to the ultimate marketing toolkit — a set of tools that can help you build awareness, maximize traffic, improve conversions, and build a loyal tribe of customers.

A marketing toolkit should essentially consist of the following tools:

  • SEO and PPC platform – to increase organic and paid traffic to your website
  • Online proofing software – to streamline the review and approval process
  • Landing page platform – to generate relevant leads for your business
  • Social media content and automation tool – to optimize your social media presence and generate traffic from social media
  • Email marketing platform – to build and nurture your email list
  • Content Marketing tool – to find trending content in your niche and to identify relevant industry influencers
  • Blogger outreach tool – to build contextual backlinks and connect with influencers
  • Chatbot building platform – to improve user experience on your website and to provide quality customer service.

In this guide, I’ll recommend one service for each of the above tools and explain some of its key features.

The total monthly spend on this marketing toolkit is just over $500 if you sign up for the basic monthly plan for all these tools. But if you use these tools effectively, the ROI is infinitely higher.

All tools (except Mailshake) provide free trials, ranging from 7 days to a month. Links to free trials are given below description of each tool. If you haven’t used any of them before, I’d urge you to sign up for the free trial.

That being said, let’s dive right in.

The Ultimate Marketing Toolkit

SEO and PPC platform: Semrush

Semrush

Although SEO and PPC are on two different ends of the spectrum, both strategies have a common goal — to increase your website traffic.

Because most SEO tools have keyword research capabilities, their usage can be extended to optimizing PPC campaigns as well.

But we are not just looking for a tool that can help us identify potential keywords, are we? We need an all-in-one marketing platform that can do all of the following:

  • Identify your organic competitors
  • Get insights into your competitors’ organic and PPC strategies
  • Conduct a site audit, identify SEO issues, and fix them promptly
  • See your competitors’ best ranking keywords
  • Conduct a deep link analysis
  • Check backlinks’ types (dofollow, nofollow, etc.)
  • Find the right keywords for your PPC campaigns
  • Track your positions for any keyword

And the tool I’d recommend to do all of the above and more would be Semrush, the preferred tool for SEOs and marketers all around the world, used by over 1 million users.

One of my favorite tools within Semrush is the Site Audit tool.

This tool allows you to identify errors, warnings, and issues with your website, and then provides recommendations to fix them promptly, thereby improving your website’s overall SEO health.

Social Media Content and Automation Tool: PromoRepublic

Promo Republic - Social Media Tool

When it comes to social media management, I use several social media scheduling tools — Buffer, Publer, Shorby, Planable, and Semrush’s Social Media Poster to name just a few. But there’s only one tool which can be considered the ultimate social media management package. A tool that can help you create content, curate content, and even schedule content on all the major social media platforms. And that tool is PromoRepublic.

PromoRepublic is currently the fastest growing social media management platform which provides content suggestions and templates with its content suggestion technology.

My favorite PromoRepublic feature is the post ideas library which contains 100,000+ hand-crafted visuals, integrated photo stocks, and easy-to-use graphics editor.

To find relevant graphics for your need, you just need to type in a topic or keyword in the search bar and hit the ‘Search’ icon.

Based on your search, you’ll find tons of relevant social media templates which can be customized to suit your requirement.

PromoRepublic SMM Tool

With the graphics editor, you can insert your logo, change the font and colors to match your brand guidelines. Once you’re satisfied with the graphic, you can share or schedule it with captions on all the major social media platforms.

Since PromoRepublic is integrated with all major social networks and provides in-depth insights into the performance of your posts, you can easily use it as a social media scheduler as well.

Email Marketing Platform: ConvertKit

ConvertKit

When it comes to effectiveness and ROI, there’s nothing better than email marketing. Email marketing has an ROI of 4400% and $44 for every $1 spent. And according to McKinsey, the average order value of an email is at least three times higher than that of social media.

These stats are too remarkable to ignore.

To get the best ROI out of email marketing, you need to use a reliable email marketing platform which has the following features:

  • Easy to use drag-and-drop email builder
  • Ability to send bulk emails
  • Opt-in forms and landing page templates
  • Email automation

To do all of the above and more, I’d recommend using an email service like ConvertKit which has quickly become the preferred email marketing software for leading bloggers, podcasters, and marketers.

One of the most widely used features in ConvertKit is its email automation feature. With ConvertKit, automation is based on a simple “if this / then that” sequence.

There is a bit of learning curve involved here, but once you familiarize yourself with this feature, you’ll realize how powerful it is and how quickly it can grow and nurture your email list.

ConvertKit Automation Rules

And it is this feature that sets ConvertKit apart from other email marketing services in the market. You can determine who receives sequence emails and when they receive them by setting up a number of ‘triggers’ and ‘actions’ that will execute when the trigger’s condition occurs.

In addition to this, you also get professionally designed lead capture forms with ConvertKit which you can use at strategic places on your website to grow your email subscribers. ConvertKit gives you a lot of control over the design of these lead capture forms.

That said, the opt-in forms won’t win any design contests and can’t be compared with other professional lead generation services like OptinMonster or Sumo. But they are definitely superior to lead capture forms provided by other email marketing services like AWeber and Mailchimp. So if you have a limited budget and can’t afford to spend on an additional service, the lead capture forms within ConvertKit will do the job.

Pricing: Paid plans start at $9/mo; ConvertKit’s free plan supports up to 1000 subscribers — click here to sign up for ConvertKit’s free plan

10 Most Entertaining Business Podcasts

In this article, I list down 10 best business podcasts that are just as entertaining as they are informative.

I know what you’re thinking: Entertainment and business don’t blend well together.

The general consensus is that business podcasts are “boring” and “uninteresting.” In other words, in terms of podcast categories, they’d probably be at the very end of the spectrum of entertainment.

But this list of best business podcasts is here to prove otherwise. The podcasts featured here can easily give mainstream podcasts like This American Life and Armchair Expert a run for their money.

So without further ado, here are the 10 most entertaining business podcasts you should listen to. If you need more recommendations, you can check the “Honorable Mentions” section to see 10 more entertaining and binge-worthy business podcasts.

10 Most Binge-Worthy Business Podcasts

1. Business Wars

Business Wars Podcast: List of Best Business Podcasts

Hosted by: David Brown (a podcast by the Wondery Podcast Network)

The Wondery podcast network has some of the best business podcasts and Business Wars, hosted by veteran radio journalist David Brown, is the best and most entertaining business podcast of the whole lot.

Business Wars gives you the unauthorized, real story of what drives competing companies and their leaders, investors, and executives to new heights or ruin. The podcast covers some of the most intense corporate (and brand) rivalries — from Coke vs Pepsi to Netflix vs Blockbuster to XBox vs Playstation.

Business Wars Episode List

Each episode is around 30 minutes long and each brand rivalry is given a multi-episode treatment. Since the subject of the podcast is so interesting, it will keep you on the edge of your seat and before long, you’ll find yourself binge-listening to multiple episodes in the series.

My personal favorite is Netflix vs Blockbuster – an eight-part series that dives deep into the rivalry between Netflix and now-defunct Blockbuster.

Launched in 2018, Business Wars quickly grew to be one of the most popular podcasts on Apple Podcasts. Fast forward to today, the podcast has had over 60 seasons and continues to have a large fanbase.

But it’s not just the brilliant storytelling ability of David Brown that keeps you hooked to this podcast. It’s also the fact that there are so many lessons to be learned from each business rivalry. If I could recommend just one business podcast from this list that’s equal parts entertaining and informative, it would be Business Wars.

2. Bad Blood: The Final Chapter

Bad Blood: The Final Chapter

Hosted by: John Carreyrou

Elizabeth Holmes had everything going for her. Her blood-testing startup Theranos was valued at over $9 billion and she was being hailed as the world’s youngest self-made female billionaire. And then it all came crashing down when it was revealed that her blood-testing technology didn’t really work.

To make it worse, Holmes had been lying to investors, doctors, and patients about the capabilities of her technology. Worse still, she had been using a wide range of intimidation tactics to silence critics, both from inside and outside her company.

Hosted by John Carreyrou, the WSJ reporter who first broke the Theranos scandal and the author of the brilliant book Bad Blood, this podcast delves into the court case against Elizabeth Holmes and the different scenarios that led to Holmes’ downfall.

Carreyrou breaks down every little detail concerning the Theranos scandal, from Holmes’ relationship with mainstream media to Silicon Valley’s fake it-till-you-make it culture that enabled Holmes to defraud investors and get away with her outrageous lies.

If you liked Carreyrou’s book Bad Blood, then this podcast is a must-listen. Even if you haven’t read the book yet, this podcast will reveal everything you need to know about the Theranos scandal and her subsequent trial that finally held Holmes accountable for her crimes.

Side note: This podcast pairs well with The Dropout, another podcast that covers the rise and fall of Theranos and Elizabeth Holmes. You can find more details about this podcast in the “Honorable Mentions” section.

3. WeCrashed: The Rise and Fall of WeWork

WeCrashed Podcast

Hosted by: David Brown (a podcast by the Wondery Podcast Network)

WeCrashed is a six-part podcast series about the rise and fall of WeWork, a company that was once valued at $47 billion dollars. WeWork’s eccentric founder Adam Neumann was able to attract billions of dollars from top-notch investors around the world. He was on the verge of creating a global real estate empire.

All that changed when WeWork decided to go public. WeWork’s disastrous IPO in 2019 unravelled a web of controversies and deceit that the company was embroiled in. As Prof Galloway, host of the Pivot podcast, puts it, “WeWork tried to turn chicken shit into chicken salad.”

For a comprehensive understanding of the WeWork scandal, you must tune in to the WeCrashed podcast. The podcast is hosted by David Brown, who also hosts the super popular business podcast Business Wars (see #1 in this list). In fact, this podcast became so popular that it’s now being adapted into a limited TV series of the same name, starring Jared Leto as Adam Neumann and Anne Hathaway as Rebecca Neumann.

WeWork’s rise and fall is a cautionary tale for ambitious entrepreneurs. It reveals the amount of damage a narcissistic leader can do to an organization.

For me, the most infuriating part of the WeWork story was Adam Neumann’s settlement. He walked away with $1.7 billion after he lost the company millions of dollars every week and the company fired 8,000 employees across locations.

Side note: If you end up liking this podcast, please check out the book Billion Dollar Loser by Reeves Wiedeman. This business thriller offers an in-depth look at all the insanity that transpired at WeWork until its disastrous IPO. It was one of the best business books I read in 2021.

The Wall Street Journal’s Bad Bets is a podcast series that explores big-business dramas that have had a big impact on the world. It’s a relatively new series and the first season deals with the Enron scandal which many consider to be the mother of all corporate frauds.

Hosted by Wall Street Journal reporters John Emshwiller and Rebecca Smith, the show features interviews from key players who had a front row seat to the big egos and unchecked power within Enron.

5. Legal Wars

Legal Wars Podcast - List of Best Business Podcasts

Hosted by: Hill Harper (a podcast by the Wondery Podcast Network)

This critically acclaimed podcast by the Wondery Podcast Network deep dives into some of the most famous court cases in American history, from Hulk Hogan’s lawsuit against Gawker that put the company out of business, to ‘Pharma Bro’ Martin Shkreli’s sentencing for securities fraud. In addition to all the legal drama, you’ll also hear about the real-world implications these cases had on the modern society.

Hosted by actor and Harvard Law School graduate Hill Harper, each court case is given a multi-episode series just like Wondery’s other podcast Business Wars (see #1).

Legal Wars Episode List

I’d highly recommend you start with the Hogan v Gawker series as it’s the best and most entertaining of the lot.

Side note: To learn more about the Hogan vs Gawker case, I’d also recommend you read the book Conspiracy by Ryan Holiday which covers this case in greater detail. It’s one of the best business thriller books I’ve ever read and it’s hard to put down once you start reading it.

This is a podcast hosted by Morning Brew. If you’re not in the know, Morning Brew is a free daily newsletter that covers business and tech news. It’s one of the most popular business newsletters out there with over 3 million subscribers around the world.

Morning Brew’s motto has always been “stay informed and entertained.” The same principle applies to their podcast Founder’s Journal, which is hosted by Morning Brew’s co-founder Alex Lieberman.

Lieberman treats the podcast like his personal audio diary where he shares the tools you need to think better and build a better business and product. Lieberman’s favorite productivity method, which he explains in episode 298, really resonated with me and I was able to take some pointers from it.

Honorable Mentions: 10 More Entertaining and Binge-Worthy Business Podcasts

If the above listed business podcasts aren’t enough to quench your thirst for entertainment, here are 10 more binge-worthy business podcasts.

  • The Wall Street Journal Podcast – This news podcast by WSJ covers the most important stories, explained through the lens of business. Short episodes (usually under 20 minutes) come out every day on weekdays and hosts Kate Linebaugh and Ryan Knutson always add their unique perspective while covering a wide range of interesting news topics.
  • The Dropout – If Bad Blood:The Final Chapter (see #2) isn’t enough to unpack the Theranos saga, then I’d highly recommend The Dropout, which covers Elizabeth Holmes’ trial in detail. It features exclusive interviews with former Theranos employees, investors, and patients, and the never-before-aired deposition testimony of Elizabeth Holmes, and those at the center of the Theranos story.
  • Pivot – Hosted by popular tech journalist Kara Swisher and NYU Professor Scott Galloway, Pivot covers the biggest news stories in tech, business, and politics. It’s easily one of the best business podcasts around. But what makes it entertaining is the enjoyable banter between Swisher and Galloway.
  • Secret Sauce – Co-hosts Samuel Donner and John Frye take you behind the scenes of the most innovative leaders, trailblazing companies, and thriving cultures to learn what they have done to become a success. The episodes range from how Jony Ive and Steve Jobs worked together to create some of Apple’s most iconic products, to how two design students overcame the odds to create Airbnb.
  • American Innovations – Hosted by bestselling author Steven Johnson, American Innovations uses immersive scenes to tell the stories of the scientists, engineers, and ordinary people behind the greatest discoveries of the past century.
  • Considering the Scam – As you can guess from the podcast title, this is a podcast that covers scams, scandals, heists, and swindles. This 12-episode podcast series is now over, but you can check it out to learn more about fascinating subjects like the origin of Ponzi schemes and the infamous Lufthansa heist.
  • The Next Big Idea – Hosted by Rufus Griscom, and featuring special guests like Malcolm Gladwell, Susan Cain, Adam Grant, and Daniel Pink, The Next Big Idea brings you groundbreaking ideas with the power to change the way you see the world.
  • Noah Kagan Presents – This podcast by the founder of AppSumo is insightful and entertaining. Noah’s passion for his craft and entrepreneurship is infectious. Highlights include the episodes “9 Best Side Hustles You Can Start From Home,” “How I Made My First Million Dollars,” and “How Ali Abdaal Grew a 700K Subscriber YouTube Channel While in Med School.”
  • This Old Marketing – Hosts Joe Pulizzi and Robert Rose, two well-known content marketing experts, talk about the latest content marketing trends, and discuss how businesses can use content to attract and retain customers. Like Pivot, the banter between these two podcast veterans makes this podcast an enjoyable listen.
  • The GaryVee Audio Experience – GaryVee has an entertaining personality. Which is why I’d feature his podcast on this list because he can even make a boring topic interesting to listen to. Here’s a caveat though: Take everything GaryVee says with a pinch of salt. Some of his recent takes and predictions have been outrageously bad and problematic. And his boisterous, over-the-top personality can be off-putting at times for some listeners.
